Katja Tukiainen’s art defies classification and her work has points of connection with e.g. pop art and magic realism. She combines references to popular and political issues and art history and utilizes different techniques. Her art consists of paintings drawings sculptures and installations and she has held many exhibitions both in Finland and abroad. Her works can be found in major public and private collections in Finland and for instance Sweden and Italy and her awards include the State Art Prize 2007 which she was the first comic artist to win. In 2022 she graduated as a Doctor of Fine Arts from the Fine Arts Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki. www.katjat.net
